Why work with Emily?

Are you frequently frustrated or upset with your young high energy dog? Do you want to learn a better, more harmonious way of living with your spirited troublemaker? Does your dog only sit half the time you ask (and often sitting doesn’t solve the problem anyways)? Then you should work with Emily!

"Emily is fantastic. She clearly has a talent for connecting with dogs and our energetic Belgian Shepherd is always thrilled to see her and seems happy and tired after a session."

Meet Emily, BA, CPDT-KA

Emily graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in Politics and a certificate (minor) in Statistics and Machine Learning. While she has always loved animals, from teaching her childhood dog to turn on and off the lights (which quickly got old) to serving as the Vice President of the Princeton Equestrian Team, the dog that ignited her passion for dog training is a 28 lb French Bulldog named Arlo.

While a senior at Princeton, she adopted Arlo and soon found that she had gotten a lot more than she bargained for! Arlo was poorly socialized, afraid of the world, and human aggressive. After lots of time, effort, and (let’s face it) money, Arlo is a reformed dog: happy, confident, and competing in dog sports, you’d never guess he was the same anxious, angry boy he was initially!

After Princeton, Arlo and Emily stayed in NJ while she worked as an investment analyst at a top finance firm. While she enjoyed the intellectual challenge, she found herself wanting to work directly with people and the crazy animals they call pets.

Emily, of course, couldn’t stop at one dog! Rave is a working line Belgian Tervuren and she is Emily’s prospect in a bite work sport called “mondio.” Emily also recently adopted a Doberman, Vex, that was being fostered by her housemate. Vex is full of spunk and likes to keep life interesting! When Emily is not training or hiking with dogs, she enjoys good coffee, baking, and reading. She currently lives in Lincoln County, Missouri  with her housemate and her housemate’s creatures, ranging from cats to tortoises!
